On 28 August at 14:30 there’s a public talk on personal relationships and professional choices. The talk – featuring curators Annika Üprus and Max Hannus, and filmmaker/performance artist Samira Elagoz – is moderated by Anita Kodanik.
How do our friendships, feelings and connections influence our artistic choices and professional collaborations? One of the natural driving forces of the art world is the network of personal relationships, yet why do we consider talking about it “too personal” or unprofessional? We consistently mention the importance of community and highlight the urgency of care despite the fact that talking about personal relationships in an individualistic society quickly takes on an almost unethical, gossipy tone. There’s rich knowledge hidden in personal relationships, influencing everyone in the art field. In this discussion we hope to spark a dialogue, in order to look into how we talk about personal relationships, why should we do it, and what we could learn about articulating their influences.
