Artists
On Thursday, September 11 at 6 PM, the collective art project Everyone Wants to Speak will open at the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia.
Created in collaboration by eight young artists, the exhibition explores different forms and tensions in the relationship between the communication-saturated (urban)environment and the individual; the personal dislocation that accompanies intense social interconnectedness. An environment moving toward ever greater refinement is a source of optimism. The emergence of a more sensitive, faster-reacting, cleaner, more functional, flawlessly operating social system seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Yet the internal tensions of this developing system produce communication breakdowns between its parts, white noise, and black despair. For these gaps, a society designed to accommodate everyone and everything also creates its own modes of communication. And so, before long, everyone will be able to talk.
